The notice also states that based on the brand’s investigation to date, it’s “not aware of any adverse health impacts related to this issue.” Still, the brand is asking customers to immediately stop using all The Laundress products in their possession. All of the brand’s laundry detergents and fabric care products, as well as home cleaning products are currently listed as “out of stock” on TheLaundress.com (aside from the Kitchen Soap Bar and Wash & Stain Bar). According to Business of Home, the brand’s brick-and-mortar location in Manhattan is locked up, with a sign on the door reading, “We are closed temporarily, and looking forward to seeing you again soon!” Business of Home also reports that retailers carrying The Laundress products were notified on Tuesday morning by the company’s interim CFO Tohfe Beidas and asked to “immediately cease all sales and distribution” of the brand’s cleaning supplies. There’s no indication yet of how long it will be before The Laundress starts selling its products again, but the brand wrote in its notice that it’s “working closely with suppliers” to make sure the products are up to standards. To customers who have purchased products from the company, the brand ensured it will “communicate an update about the products impacted and how to obtain a reimbursement or replacement as soon as possible.” In the meantime, however, the brand is also asking customers to hold on to their The Laundress products, as they may later be necessary for proof of purchase. To be safe, the brand has also instructed customers to rewash dishes, surfaces, or clothes that they’ve recently washed with The Laundress products.
